Yesterday, the 150,000-ton container ship "ONE MUNCHEN" with a rose red body berthed at the Xiamen Port International Container Terminal for operation, adding a ray of bright colors to the front of the terminal. The 366-meter-long vessel is affiliated to ONE, a member of THE alliance, and is the first ship to carry out the new US-Eastern route (route code EC4) opened by THE alliance in Xiamen Port.
According to Xiamen Port Holdings Group and Xiamen Container Terminal Group, the new route is operated by THE Alliance, one of the world's three major shipping alliances. It plans to invest in 10 14000 TEU container ships, which will call at Xiamen Port International Container Terminal every week. A single voyage may be available. Contributed container throughput of about 2,300 TEUs. The route passes through Vietnam, Singapore, and the Suez Canal to the east coast of the United States and will provide cargo owners with convenient and direct services to ports such as Savannah, Norfolk, Charleston, and New York. It is reported that this route is currently the shortest route from Xiamen Port to Norfolk Port in the United States.
It is worth mentioning that the new route has allocated sufficient shipping space for Xiamen Port, which can provide sufficient capacity guarantee for foreign trade goods in Xiamen and surrounding areas. An industry insider commented that this move shows that the airline operator has full confidence and grasp of Xiamen Port.
